Allegiant Sets HIA Passenger Record; Seasonal Routes Return This Week

Allegiant set a passenger traffic record at HIA in 2024—serving 306,425 total passengers—up 18.5% from their previous record set in 2023.

Allegiant’s Unique Business Model

Since their first flight on October 31, 2012, more than 2 million people have flown Allegiant to and from HIA across eight destinations. Allegiant is a low-cost airline headquartered in Las Vegas that focuses exclusively on serving leisure travelers from small and medium-sized cities to many of the nation’s most popular vacation destinations. On most routes, they fly only during the most popular travel months and days of the week. They offer lower base fares with many ? la carte services—like assigned seats, carry-ons, and checked bags—available for an additional fee. You can choose and pay for only the services you want or use.

Allegiant also offers travelers the opportunity to book rental cars, hotel rooms, and attraction tickets as part of your airline purchase in certain markets.

From Harrisburg, Orlando Sanford, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Punta Gorda, and Sarasota are served year-round. Nashville, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, and Myrtle Beach are served only during the busiest months of the year.

Seasonal Routes Resume for Spring Break and Summer Travel!

Nashville

Beginning Thursday, February 12, Allegiant’s popular nonstop service to Music City resumes every Thursday and Sunday on 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. Nashville is one of central Pennsylvania’s most popular destinations for three- and four-day getaways, offering great food, drinks, and live music on Broadway, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, plenty of hot chicken, and Southern charm.

Jacksonville

Beginning Friday, February 13, Allegiant’s popular nonstop service to Jacksonville resumes every Friday and Monday on 156-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. Jacksonville is known for its 22 miles of white sand beaches, surfing, fishing, and over 400 parks. Golf is another popular attraction, and the annual PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass takes place March 10–15.

Just an hour to the south is America’s oldest city—St. Augustine. Founded by the Spanish in 1565, St. Augustine’s unique scenery, brick-lined streets, European flavor, art exhibits, music festivals, and culinary scene are very popular with visitors from central Pennsylvania.

Fort Lauderdale

Also beginning Friday, February 13, Allegiant’s popular nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale resumes every Friday and Monday on 190-seat Boeing 737 aircraft. Fort Lauderdale is known for its 24 miles of golden sandy beaches and its art, culture, and entertainment scene. Boating is extremely popular, with 300 miles of inland waterways earning the city the nickname “the Venice of America.”

The Fort Lauderdale airport is centrally located for exploring Southeast Florida. Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, and West Palm Beach are all less than an hour’s drive to the north; Hollywood, South Beach, and Miami are all less than an hour to the south; and the Everglades are about an hour to the west.

Myrtle Beach service resumes April 2.
