July sets another record

MIDDLETOWN, Pa., August 27, 2025 – Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) continues its remarkable growth, setting another passenger traffic record in July 2025. With 152,179 total passengers choosing HIA last month, we notched our second consecutive monthly traffic record and have now seen 18 straight months of year-over-year growth. In fact, April, May, June, and July 2025 are now four of the nine busiest months in HIA’s history.

Record year-to-date performance

Through July 2025, HIA has served 929,472 passengers—a new seven-month record, representing +14.9% vs. 2024 and +8% vs. 2019.

What’s driving the growth?

HIA’s momentum reflects central Pennsylvania’s stable, diverse economy and an expanding population—and airlines meeting that demand with more options closer to home. For years, many regional travelers had to drive hours to larger airports to find the flights they needed. Today, expanded service at HIA is keeping more trips local.

• Allegiant and Frontier offer low-fare nonstops to popular family and vacation destinations.

Even more seats ahead

Growth is expected to continue through year-end. Seats for sale from September–December 2025 are up 13% versus last year, with notable expansion from:

American: +15%, with increased service to Chicago, Dallas, and Philadelphia.

Delta & United: +23% combined, driven by larger aircraft and added frequencies (Delta to Atlanta and Detroit; United to Chicago and Washington, DC).
