HIA year-to-date Passenger Traffic up 9.4% vs 2023

Labor Day travel week could be the busiest ever

(Middletown, PA – August 28, 2024) – During the month of July 2024, 124,661 passengers flew into and out of Harrisburg International Airport (HIA), an increase of nearly one percent vs July 2023.  As of July 31st, 809,204 passengers have used the airport, an increase of 9.4% compared to the same period in 2023.    

“American Airlines now offers more seats for sale on a monthly basis than they have in more than 20 years and the region is responding by flying from Harrisburg more often,” said Timothy J. Edwards, Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority executive director.  Edwards said from September to December 2024, total seats for sale will be up at HIA 14% vs last year.  The largest increase:

Labor Day could set a record

According to Edwards, “The 2024 Labor Day travel weekend could be the busiest ever as nearly 24,000 passengers are expected to fly to and out of the region via HIA.  The previous record was 22,218 set in 2010.”  Thursday, August 29th and Friday, August 30th will be the busiest days with around 4,600 passengers each day while Saturday, August 31st will be the slowest at around 2,500 passengers. 

Delta to offer special PSU related flights to Seattle and Minneapolis this fall

Delta Airlines will offer special nonstop flights to Minneapolis and Seattle this fall related to the Penn State football game at home on 11/09 vs Washington and for the game on 11/23 at Minnesota.  Delta will fly Washington Husky fans nonstop from Seattle to Harrisburg on Friday, November 8th with a return trip to Seattle on Sunday, November 10th.  For Penn State fans traveling to the Minnesota game, Delta will offer a nonstop flight to Minneapolis on Friday, November 22nd, and a return trip to Harrisburg on Sunday, November 24th.  For times and fares, please visit www.delta.com.
