HIA Reports 2ND Quarter Traffic up 15% vs 2023

American Airlines traffic up 30%

(Middletown, PA – July 31, 2024) – A total of 379,002 passengers passed through Harrisburg International Airport (HIA) during the months of April, May and June 2024, an increase of 15.5 percent compared to the same three months in 2023.

For the year-to-date period ending June 30th, a total of 684,543 passengers have used the airport—an increase of 11.1 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

“As airlines continue to increase service, more people are choosing the convenience of HIA when flying to business and leisure destinations,” said Timothy J. Edwards, Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority executive director.  Edwards expects this trend to continue for at least the next three months as total seats for sale will be up 16 percent compared to last year.  American is expanding service to its hubs in Charlotte by 49 percent, Chicago by 83 percent, Philadelphia by 51 percent and to Dallas by six percent.  Allegiant has extended its summer seasonal service into November and their new service to Jacksonville is off to a good start.
