HIA Reports May traffic up 19% vs May 2023

Third busiest May in Airport history

(Middletown, PA – June 26, 2024) – A total of 127,780 passengers passed through Harrisburg International Airport (HIA) during May 2024, an increase of 18.7 percent compared to May 2023, making it the third busiest May in airport history.

As of May 31st, 555,122 passengers have used the airport—an increase of 11.6 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

“The combination of American’s increased service to Charlotte, Chicago and Dallas, Delta’s increased service to Detroit and Allegiant’s increased service to Myrtle Beach, Punta Gorda and Orlando Sanford, more people have the ability to choose the convenience of Harrisburg compared to airports located hours away” said Timothy J. Edwards, Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority executive director.  “We expect this growth trend to continue for the rest of the summer and into the fall.”

United’s Popular Dulles Services Resumes Tomorrow

United Airline service to its hub at Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport (IAD) resumes on June 27th.  During the pandemic, the IAD service was transitioned to Newark (EWR) for several network related issues.  Historically, Dulles service has been very popular throughout our region as it provides convenient connections to more than 50 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean.  United’s resumed IAD service complements its three times daily Chicago (ORD) service by providing more flight options for business and leisure travelers.
