Get ready for a busy 2nd quarter!

During January and February 2024, HIA passenger traffic was 6% above last year and nearly 4% above budget.

Looking ahead to April, May and June, scheduled airline seats departing Harrisburg will be up 14% compared to the same months in 2023 and 12% over budget.   In fact, second quarter airline passenger traffic could be within 5% of 2019’s record.  American flights to Charlotte and Chicago are increasing, Delta will offer more service to Detroit, Allegiant is expanding service to Ft. Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach, and adding new service to Jacksonville, while United will add larger aircraft to Chicago and transition Newark service back Washington Dulles in late June.

Year-to-date air cargo tonnage is up 5.2% versus last year as more cargo is being flown into Harrisburg and sorted locally versus being flown into other airports and driven into central PA.

Finally, with good weather, operations at Capital City Airport are expected to remain at, or slightly above, last year’s level.  While we don’t have actual numbers, thanks to recent investments by SARAA—and onsite tenants—operations at both Gettysburg and Franklin County seem to be trending upward as well.
